Lightbox

What is a lightbox?
  • An online page with images that you selected.
  • The contents of the lightbox is kept for you even when you log out.
  • You must be registered and logged on to use the lightbox.
How do I use the lightbox?
  • Log in and click on the lightbox icon Lightbox of the image you want to select.
  • To see the contents of your lightbox, click on the 'LIGHTBOX' button (top left).
Can I share my lightbox with others?
  • Yes. Tell your associates your Username and Password. When they log on with your Username and Password, they can see your lightbox and even make changes to it. Please be aware that they will be able to access your profile, too.
  • If you don't tell anyone your Username and Password, your lightbox remains private.

How can I buy a license for an image?
  1. Browse by category or search by keyword to find the image that you require.
  2. Click the thumbnails to see a larger image and more detailed information.
  3. Click on the PayPal 'Add to Cart' button to purchase images.
  4. Click on 'Cart' (top left) to checkout. We use PayPal.com as our payment processor. Payments are quick, safe and private.
  5. You will receive an e-mail notifying where you can download your high res images.

  1. Click on the lightbox icon of the image(s) that you want to buy
  2. When you are finished with your selection, click on the 'REQUEST' button (top left).
  3. We will contact you to discuss how you will pay (PayPal, bank transfer, cheque).
  4. You will receive an e-mail notifying where you can download your high res images after payment is completed.
How do I get my image?
  • You will receive an e-mail with a download link to download your high res images.
  • Registered users can download images from their account page after receiving a notification e-mail.
How long does it take?
  • Less than 24 hours. We are usually able to send you the image(s) within hours.
  • If you are in a hurry, contact us before you order as we may be on assignment sometimes.
How much does it cost? (What sizes do you offer?)
  • Small -- $49.00 : 1 MB RGB (17 x 26 cm) @ 72 dpi JPEG (use for web pages and digital presentations)
  • Medium -- $119.00 : 10 MB RGB (13 x 20 cm) @ 300 dpi JPEG
  • Large -- $159.00 : 28 MB RGB (22 x 32 cm) @ 300 dpi JPEG

What is limited royalty-free (Limited RF)?
  • We offer traditional rights-protected (RP) and limited royalty-free (Limited RF) licenses. Most images are Limited RF.
  • An image purchased under a RP license can usually only be used once, for a single purpose and in a single country.
  • Limited RF, on the other hand, offers you a worldwide license for a full year in a single medium (a newspaper, magazine, website, etc.)
  • You may use the image as often as you like in the same medium for the full period of 12 months.
  • Important: The redistribution or the use of our photos within products that are mass distributed in any type of archive format is not allowed.
Do these images have model or property releases?
  • Some do. Look behind the release icon Release on the details page of each image.
  • Important: Many images on this site are only for editorial use. Additional clearance is required for commercial or promotional use. Ask us.
What is a model or a property release?
  • On the details page, the release icon Release may show 'None', '+Property' or '+Model'.
  • '+Property' or '+Model' indicate that this image has a signed property and/or model release.
  • If indicated on the details page, Japan Photo Stock represents and warrants that it holds in its possession the required signed releases for the people depicted in the image, or the required signed releases for the property depicted in the image. Ask us for a copy if you require one.

How do I use this online archive? (What is each icon used for?)
  • Download - Click on this icon to download a (usually watermarked) comp of the image. The comp's largest side is 400 pixels.
  • Details - The details icon. Hover your cursor over the icon to read the image caption. Click on it to open the details page of the image.
  • Lightbox - The lightbox icon. Click on it to add or remove images to and from the lightbox. You must be logged in to be able to use this.
  • Cart - "Add to cart". Click on this icon to open the details page where you can buy a license for the image.
  • Postcard - Click on this icon to send an e-card using the selected image.
  • Camera - Click on the name behind this icon to see the contact info of the photographer, and more photographs.
  • Release - Designates information about model or property releases.
  • Info - You can't click on this icon. It just designates the image caption.
  • Search - The search icon. Click on any of the following keywords to find similar images.
What is 'REQUEST' used for?
  • You can send us the contents of your lightbox by e-mail, to order images without using the PayPal buy button. Do this by clicking on the 'REQUEST' button.
What is 'RSS' used for?
  • RSS ("Really Simple Syndication" or "Rich Site Summary") is used by news services and blogs to send new content to subscribers.
  • After subscribing to our RSS feed (http://www.japanphotostock/rss.php), you receive notifications about new images without the need to visit our site.
  • We always show the 12 latest images in our RSS feed. There may be more, so do visit the site if the images attract your attention.
  • You need an RSS reader, or use a web-based service like Bloglines. Most browsers also support RSS feeds.
  • Recommended newsreaders are: FeedDemon (Windows), NetNewsWire Lite (Mac)
  • Click on the appropriate logo to add our RSS feed to a web-based service:
